My Classroom
My classroom is a home away from home! All who enter my classroom doors are welcomed with open arms. Classroom community is the most important aspect to me as an educator. All students have things going on in their lives outside of the classroom, so when they come to school being in a place where they feel comfortable, safe and respected is a non-negotiable in my eyes. While community is held to the highest standard for my students, so are the expectations I have for them in their work and efforts. While all students need something different, the expectation I have for all students stays consistent, regardless of the path that leads to it. I want my students to always look back on their fifth grade year with positive memories and see all the growth they made along with their success!
"Alone we can do so little, but together we can do so much!"
Take a Look Inside!
Here are some pictures inside of my classroom. Posters on the walls and other decor is bright, positive and encouraging. My goal is to make my classroom feel and be as comfotable, welcoming and safe as possible for all who enter it.
Here are a few videos to show the climate in my classroom. The relationships my students build transfer out of the classroom and into the specials that they have in school and many friendships that carry outside of school as well. The first video is one of my ELL students who asked to sing a song she learned to the class. The second of my kiddos supporting each other in a relay race during our schools SPARK program. And the third is of most of my students gathering together to volunteer and sing during music class.
Here are a few sample photos of my students just enjoying school. It may be an engaging activity, just goofing around with friends or celebrating one another!
Below are just a few examples of students finding the confidence to stand up in front of the rest of the rest of the class to read, teach or present!
Virtual Classroom
Due to the pandemic, this school year has been completely online with screen to screen learning. For my students I still wanted them to have a sense of our classroom so I created a virtual representation for them that they could explore and navigate to find useful information, links to resources and other information! Here is a small glimpse as to what I created!
