Native American Museums
These pieces represent museum exhibits that students created at the end of a research project. In groups students researched a Native American region and then created artifacts to represent what things were important to the different regions based on the area that they lived. Students also created labels for each of the artifacts in their museum exhibit and gave presentations to other grade levels and families.
Biographies & Websites
A big unit that I started and have done with students over the past two years is having them do a research project over a well-known figure in our past history or present dy. After students conduct all of their research they then design and create an informational website all about the person they chose to learn about. Below are samples of the many different elements that go into students websites.
STEM Challenges
My school is a STEM school, so wee put a large emphasis and focus on Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. STEM challenges are incorporated through assignments, projects and units throughout the school year in different subject areas but a large focus is during science and social studies. Below are some samples of different STEM challenges and activities my students have taken part in.
(Robotics, Earthquakes, Floating Gardens, and iEngineering)
